Hear Me Roar -- ROAR! -- I have always been proud to be a Leo, though my interest in astrology is almost purely whimsical.- I am pleased to share my birthday with Dustin Hoffman (I am much younger than he is) and with two friends, Denise Marcel and Brigid Cahalan. Having clawed my way up through the ranks, starting out 21 years ago as a clerk typist in the director's office, I am today an administrator with the International Center for the Disabled.- I have worked for many years in the field of vocational rehabilitation.- I strongly support enforcement of the Americans With Disabilities Act (which a recent ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court gutted in the name of states' rights) and the efforts of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (which seems to have disappeared since George W. Bush seized the White House in a frenzy of cynical power politics with the assistance of a an unprincipled decision of this same Supreme Court which mocked any reasonable understanding of states' rights. I am a member of Emily's List amd the American Association of People with Disabilities. My Husband works for the New York Public Library.- John and I met at Denison University where he majored in history and I majored in music. -John went on to Syracuse University to study library science and I to Duquesne University to study counseling. I enjoy playing the violin and have been a member of several amateur orchestras including, for the past twelve years, the Greenwich Village Orchestra.- Two of my favorite composers are Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann.- Favorite pop songs include Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Bobby Darin's Mack the Knife and the entirety of Carole King''s Tapestry album which includes the song, It's Too Late. I love to travel. Recently, John and I travelled to Australia and saw many wonderful sights including the Sydney Opera House which was very lovely but surprisingly difficult to access in a wheelchair.- We were assured that this problem is being addressed. -Some of the other fabulous places we have visited together include Ireland, the Isle of Skye, London, Hawaii, and Sitka, Alaska. -I have also travelled on business to New Zealand and Japan. I am looking forward to pursuing my music and travel interests simultaneously this summer when John and I will visit Greece on an orchestra tour and I will participate in several concerts there.
